Another Skin 川島史也の彫刻

彫刻家の川島史也のアーティスト・トーク映像を制作。作家の言葉を中心に、個展「Another Skin」の光景、制作現場、そしてトークで重要な要素となった鋳造作業の様子を紹介する。

人物像を作っています。ありきたりな題材、古代から現代に至るまで幾度となく表現されてきた対象ですが、私もまた、先人たちが築いてきた美術の文脈に則り、彫刻によって人物表現を試みています。

混沌とした世の中にあって、人への信頼を失いかけてしまうともあるように思います。その「人」とは、社会であり、他者であり、自分自身でもあります。しかし、優れた彫刻作品には、人は信頼できるということが真実であると、間違いではないことを思い起こさせてくれる力があると、私は思っています。おこがましくも、人が人への信頼を保つための装置として、私の彫刻作品が機能することを願っています。

An artist talk video of a sculptor, KAWASHIMA Fumiya. Focusing on the artist's words, the video introduces the scenes from his solo exhibition "Another Skin," the production site, and the casting process, which was an important element of the talk.

I make sculptures of human. As a common subject matter, the human figure has been expressed many times from ancient times to the present. I am also attempting to express the human figure through sculpture, following the context of art established by our predecessors.

In this chaotic world, we sometimes seem to lose faith in people. The "people" are society, others, and myself. However, I believe that a good sculpture has the power to remind us that it is true, and not a mistake, thet people can be trusted. I hope that my sculptures will serve as a device for people to maintain their trust in others.

本作品の初稿は、筑波大学情報学学位プログラム開講の授業「コンテンツ開発」の課題として、大塩尚弘先生のご指導のもと制作しました。

The first version of this work was produced under the guidance of Naohiro OSHIO as an assignment for the course "Content Development" offered by the Informatics Degree Program at the University of Tsukuba.
